Knowledge Resource Centre & Library

About Us :

The College Library is a central academic facility that supports teaching, learning, and research. It provides access to print and digital resources, fostering reading habits, academic excellence, and lifelong learning.

  • Established in 1997 with 107 volumes and 44 titles
  • Shifted to Gorantla (1999):St. Ann’s Block
  • Relocated to Gnanam Block (2019–2024)
  • Presently located in St. Ann’s Block (Second Floor)
  • Established in 2002–2003 (MCA Programme)
  • Expanded with MBA Programme (2007–2008)
  • Functioned in St. Ann’s Block until 2023–2024
  • Shifted to Gnanam Block (2024–2025)

As per recommendations of the NAAC Peer Team (June 2024):

  • UG & PG Libraries merged into Single Central Library
  • Renovated during April–May 2025
  • Functioning from June 2025 onwards

User Access Policy

General Academic Resources

Telugu & Regional Language Resources

  • User-Centric Collection Development:Students and faculty are encouraged to recommend books and journals through a prescribed requisition form, ensuring the collection remains relevant and need-based.
  • Display of New Arrivals: Newly acquired books and journals are regularly displayed to create awareness and promote reading among users.
  • Digital Library Services (DELNET): The library provides access to digital resources through DELNET, enabling users to explore a wide range of e-books, e-journals, and academic databases.
  • User Orientation Programme: Orientation sessions are conducted for newly admitted students to familiarize them with library resources, services, and usage guidelines.
  • Home Lending of Multimedia Resources: CDs and DVDs are made available for home lending to both students and staff to support academic and co-curricular learning.
  • Promotion of Reading Culture:__The library offers free access to reading materials, fostering reading habits and encouraging lifelong learning among students.

Book Issue Policy

  • Students are permitted to borrow up to 3 books at a time.
  • Faculty members may borrow up to 10 books.
  • The loan period is 14 days for all issued books.
  • A renewal facility is available, subject to demand and reservation status.
  • Overdue charges are applicable for late returns as per library rules.
  • Strict silence must be maintained within the library premises.
  • Eating and drinking are not permitted inside the library.
  • Mobile phones should be kept on silent mode or switched off.

Penalties

  • Damage to Books:Users must compensate for any damage caused to library materials.
  • Loss of Books:Lost books must be replaced with the same or latest edition, or the prescribed fine must be paid.
  • Late Return:A fine is imposed for overdue books as per library policy.

The Library and Information Science section consistently organizes a wide range of academic, cultural, and awareness programmes every year to promote reading habits, information literacy, and holistic student development.

These activities are designed to create an engaging learning environment, enhance access to knowledge resources, and develop lifelong learning skills among students.

Regular Activities Conducted

  • User Orientation Programmes: Conducted for newly admitted students to familiarize them with library resources, services, digital platforms, and usage guidelines.
  • Celebration of Important Occasions: Observance of significant days such as the birth anniversary of Iyyanki Venkata Ramanayya, Librarian’s Day, Library Week, and other academic events.
  • Library Week Celebrations: Organized annually with activities such as:
  • Awareness programmes on e-resources
  • Essay writing competitions
  • Quiz, Sudoku, and creative competitions
  • Painting and literary activities
  • Reading Promotion Initiatives: Activities aimed at developing reading habits, including book displays, reading sessions, and interactive programmes.
  • Information Literacy Programmes: Training sessions to help students effectively use digital resources, e-journals, and online databases (such as DELNET).
  • Student Engagement Activities: Creative and collaborative activities like competitions, awareness campaigns, and theme-based events.
  • Educational Visits: Visits to book fairs and exhibitions such as the Vijayawada Book Festival to expose students and faculty to a wide range of publications and learning resources.

Sample Activities (Academic Year 2025–2026)

During the academic year 2025–2026, the library organized several programmes including:

  • Orientation sessions for first-year students
  • Celebration of important academic and social occasions
  • Librarian’s Day and Library Week activities
  • Awareness programmes on e-resources
  • Creative competitions such as essay writing, painting, and quizzes
  • Educational visit to a book festival

These programmes witnessed active participation from students across all departments, reflecting the vibrant academic culture of the institution.
