Mentor–Mentee System
The institution has implemented a structured and student-centric Mentor–Mentee System to ensure holistic development, continuous academic support, and personal guidance for every student.
At the beginning of the first year, each faculty member is assigned as a mentor to a small group of approximately 20–30 students (mentees). The same mentor continues to guide the students throughout their programme, ensuring consistency, trust, and effective monitoring. The institution maintains an average mentor–mentee ratio of 1:20–30, enabling individual attention and personalized support.
Objectives
- To monitor students’ academic performance, attendance, and overall progress
- To provide personal, emotional, and academic guidance
- To identify students’ strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs
- To guide students in goal setting, career planning, and skill development
- To encourage participation in academic, cultural, and co-curricular activities
- To create a supportive, disciplined, and student-friendly learning environment
Key Functions
- Conduct regular mentor–mentee meetings for continuous interaction
- Provide individual counseling for academic and personal concerns
- Track student attendance, internal performance, and progression
- Maintain student profiles and mentoring records
- Offer timely guidance and communicate with parents/guardians when necessary
Activities of the Mentor
Mentors actively engage in the following activities:
- Organize orientation sessions for mentees at the beginning of the academic year
- Conduct regular one-to-one and group mentoring sessions
- Review academic performance, attendance, and internal assessments
- Identify slow learners and advanced learners and provide suitable guidance
- Provide remedial support and enrichment activities
- Guide students in career planning, higher education, and skill development
- Encourage participation in seminars, workshops, competitions, and co-curricular activities
- Address personal, emotional, and stress-related issues through counseling
- Maintain Mentor Diaries / Registers and update student progress regularly
- Coordinate with parents/guardians when required
- Refer students to institutional support services such as placement, counseling, and skill development cells
- Promote discipline, values, and professional ethics
